Topic: Nutrition Considerations of Gender Affirming Therapies in the Transgender Community

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain barriers to optimal nutrition for the transgender community
  • Describe clinical nutrition-related side effects of estrogen and testosterone therapy
  • Identify potential psychosocial concerns for transgender patients and clients

Speaker:

Zachari Breeding, MS, RDN, CSO, LDN, FAND is a registered, licensed dietitian and holds his Certification of Specialty in Oncology Nutrition (CSO). He is the owner of Sage Nutritious Solutions, a personalized nutrition and private chef company and is the Food Systems Dietitian at the VA Medical Center. He is the recent recipient of the Emerging Leader in Dietetics award from the Pennsylvania Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Zach is also the incoming Speaker for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics House of Delegates and Past Chair of the Committee for Lifelong Learning, which plans the Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE). He is also the founder and president of the Mandy Wagner Foundation, and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to improve the lives of those living with cystic fibrosis.
