Participate in the TDO webinar to learn about NYSAND's Therapeutic Diet Ordering Legislative efforts and how this is related to our licensure efforts. In addition, gain the skills you need to empower yourself to become part of the solution in gaining such privileges for RDs in NYS.

3. Participants will be able to explain the NYS therapeutic diet ordering legislation.

4. Participants will have the skills and resources to visit elected officials to discuss NYS therapeutic diet order writing legislation.

Speaker: Josephine Connolly-Schoonen, PhD, RD

Josephine is a Clinical Associate Professor and Founding Director of the Stony Brook Medicine Nutrition Division.  Over the past 25 years she has led the development and implementation of a dietetic internship program, on online graduate nutrition program, a WIC program, the Stony Brook Heights Rooftop Farm, a sports nutrition program with Stony Brook Athletics, and a robust public health nutrition program creating environmental and policy changes to increase access to healthy foods in low-income communities.  In addition, she led the integration of the Stony Brook University Hospital Clinical Nutrition team with the academic Nutrition Division.  Through her vision, strategic planning and talent management she has created a revenue-generation, diversified and progressive Nutrition Division.  While leading a staff of 40, Josephine maintains a clinical practice, including management of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease, IBS, SIBO and eating disorders.  Josephine also serves as the Chair of the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Therapeutic Diet Order Writing Task Force.
